Become a Teen Contestant
(Ages 13 to 18)

Eligibility to compete:


Must be between the ages of 13 and 18.


Must be a United States Citizen and a female.


Must live, work, or be a student full time in the state of Washington. Additionally, must live, work, or be student full time in Yakima County if competing for Miss Yakima County's Teen.


Must meet character criteria as set forth by the official Miss America's Teen contract.


Must not hold a title in the Miss America Organization or another similar system at the time of the competition.


Should you win, must commit to competing in the Miss Washington's Teen 2024 competition.

Areas of Competition:

Worth 30%

Wardrobe: Contestant's Choice-Stylish Interview Attire (age appropriate)

Timing:30 second opening,

9 minute Question and Answer,

optional 30 second wrap up or closing statement.

Private Interview

Worth 10%

Wardrobe: Delegate to be in Opening Number Outfit.  

The preliminary conversation question should be a single question asked on stage regarding the Delegate’s Community Service Initiative (CSI) and response should not be longer than 30 seconds.

Onstage Conversation

Worth 20%

Examples of Fitness Wear options include yoga/dance/athletic wear. Judges to evaluate the following: Overall First impression of a Dynamic Presence, Radiates Health, High Energy, Engaging Vitality, and a Sense of Confidence

Wardrobe: Delegate’s Choice–Performance Arts Talents or HERStory™

Presentation Timing: Up to 90 seconds.

Talent must be approved by National office or previously approved as listed on the most recent“ Approved Performance Talent List” OR be in compliance with the guidelines for the HERStory™ stage presentation. 


Worth 20%

Wardrobe: Delegate’s Choice of Evening Wear- Appropriate for Red Carpet

Delegate will publicly present her sense of Style wearing an evening gown in a fashion suitable for an appearance as Teen/Miss Local or State.

Evening Wear

What You Win:

  • Official Miss America local crown and sash

  • A $300 Scholarship

  • A chance to compete for the title of Miss Washington's Teen 2024 and potentially Miss America's Teen

  • Miss Washington Teen preparation to include mock interviews, mock pageants, paperwork consultations, and wardrobe consultations
